Opening an application with privacy

When you open an application with privacy, the privacy information for that application will be removed by Tiptoe when that application is closed.

To open an application with privacy:

Before you open an application with privacy you may want to review what information will be kept private.

Step 1

Select the application in the main Tiptoe window.

Step 2

Choose Application > (Re)open Application with Privacy, press the return key, or click Privacy in the toolbar.

The application will open. The words "Open Privacy" will appear next to the application in the main Tiptoe window.

If the application was already open without privacy, Tiptoe will attempt to close, then reopen the application with privacy.

For Tiptoe to maintain privacy in applications open with privacy, Tiptoe needs to remain open until those applications have been quit.

Warning: On Lion or later, a warning symbol Sandbox Warning can appear at the far-right of the application name in the main Tiptoe window. This shows that the application has been sandboxed by its creator to improve security. Sandboxed applications may prevent Tiptoe from providing full privacy. See About application states for more information.
