Using modules

Each module is a Flash object, purposed for its own functions, embedding into a web page. It can have any size and position, you can set it freely by define it's container with common HTML.

Modules interact with each other, every one reacts to defined events in others. (Pro and Base versions only). For example: you click on hotspot in the map module, then the panoramic module loads linked panorama, and after that the map module shows dynamic field of vision depending on loaded panorama‘s parameters and position.

You can see more examples at www.PanoModules.com/examples.html

Also you can investigate included tutorials:

Base and Pro versions

You can see message “Key not found” at top of every module. This message appears only if you have not valid key for your domain name or during offline testing.

2. Map module

3. Thumbnails module

Displays cylindrical panoramas with tunable compensatory distortion. (Also it can display usual non-panoramic images as those can be considered as special case of panoramas with small angle of view).

Panoramic views can contain hotspots with different actions performed on click. You can attach any images (including those with transparency) and custom interactive Flash files as hotspots and configure each hotspot separately: assign actions on click, “bubble tip”, set visual effects.

Displays custom maps, floor plans etc. It also supports hotspots like panoramic module.

The most often manner of using map hotspot is load panorama in panoramic module by click on it. In this case, map hotspot can show dynamic field of vision corresponding with panorama‘s parameters and position.

Displays thumbnails with different actions performed on click. There are may be thumbnails of different panoramic views or floor plans or something else.

This module can be initialized as horizontal (as here) or vertical, it defined automatically by height and width of it's container. The scroll bar appears only if needed.

Free and Lite versions

Placeholder for the virtual tour module. If you read it, this module was not loaded. Probable reasons: 1) Adobe Flash player 8 or higher is not available; 2) JavaScript is not available.

As Free and Lite versions of PanoModules do not support interaction with JavaScript and modules interaction, the only possible kind of virtual tour based on these versions is single module — in general the panoramic one.

In this example you can walk through two panoramic scenes and see hotspots of several types.

Free version

Free version of PanoModules is the same level as Lite version by features and requires no license key. However, there are two limitations specific to it:

1. Maximum size for panoramic and map modules is 300*300 pixels.

2. Pull-out banner at top (opening on mouse over) with link to www.PanoModules.com.

Benefits and Features

Creation of virtual tours

  1. Common web-design technologies - HTML (XHTML) and CSS - are used for building and skinning virtual tours of any configuration. You don't need additional software to create a virtual tour: just use your favorite web-design tools.
  2. There are no restrictions for layout, size, structure, and visual style of your virtual tour. It can contain whichever modules with any size and positioning on the page. Modules have no fixed make-up, so they can be skinned with common CSS and organically built into a web page of any style. It means that you can make a virtual tour just as you want.
  3. No additional scripting or sophisticated HTML needed in usual cases. All functionality and interaction mechanism are completely encapsulated in modules.

Management of virtual tours

  1. Manage content of your virtual tour online in-place. Modules have special embedded content management system. The server-side part of this system is open and can be adapted or fully rewritten as you need. (Pro version only).
  2. Edit your virtual tour without changing HTML code. All content and preferences are described in XML files with simple, readable and editable format.
  3. Rebuild your virtual tour, remove or add new modules without changing existing content. New and upgraded modules are free and always available for download.
  4. Your virtual tour is completely yours. It resides on your web site and all its files hosted on your server. You can manage it so as you wish.

Entertainment

  1. Panoramic scenes and maps can contain hotspots of several types with different actions performed by click. You can attach any image or Flash file as hotspots, assign actions, "bubble tips" and visual effects on mouse over for each hotspot separately.
  2. Tunable compensatory distortion for cylindrical panoramas allows displaying correct panoramic view. You can tune it interactively depending on panorama's geometry, turn it off and on.
  3. The panoramic module can be used as slide-show and display usual non-panoramic images. (Just consider them as narrow-angled panoramas without compensatory distortion needed). Hotspots are still fully available in this mode.
  4. The map module can display dynamic field of vision related to current view in panoramic module. (Pro and Base versions only).

Advanced

  1. Interaction with JavaScript gives more customizing possibilities for advanced virtual tour developers. You can start some modules actions via simple JavaScript calls (for example, with use of standard UI controls) and receive calls from any module when some event occurred in it. (Pro and Base versions only).

Versions

All modules of all versions are fully functional and always available for free download, so you can try any version at work for unlimited time without license key. The only restriction for paid versions without valid key is permanent banner in modules with message about key absence.

We recommend you try different versions with your real stuff before purchasing. You can even create complete virtual tour to meet all your requirements; the only change after purchasing a license key will be — to change one string in your HTML code.

License keys

License keys are provided per domain names. For example, you can purchase a key for site “Abcdef.com” and create virtual tours on its pages without restrictions.

License keys for same domain name, but different versions are different too. However, the key for any advanced version applicable also for all lower versions. With the key for “Base” version you can use also “Lite”, but not “Pro”; the key for “Pro” version is universal.

Requirements

System

A virtual tour, created with PanoModules, requires Adobe Flash player 8 or higher and JavaScript available in user's browser. PanoModules Pro uses PHP scripts on the server for content management.

Skills

Basic HTML and XML skills are required for using PanoModules.
