File Operations
You can use the commands in the File and Edit menus to perform common file operations
on the files and folders shown in the file list. You can also use drag-and-drop to
perform many actions, and use keyboard shortcuts to do things more quickly.
- Rename a file or folder by selecting it and choosing Rename from the file menu, or
double-click the items name label in the list.
- Move one or more files or folders to Trash by selecting them and choosing
Move To Trash from the file menu, or drag them to the Trashcan.
- Edit the selected file or files using the editor application you have set up
in the preferences by choosing Edit from the file menu.
- Edit with a specific application by using the Edit toolbar item. You can set up a list of favourite applications in the Preferences dialog, then select one or more images and select the application from the Edit toolbar menu.
- Edit selected files with the default application for their file type by
using Edit with Default in the file menu.
- Show information about an image file by using Get Info from the file menu. The
Get Info dialog shows the EXIF metadata for the file, and has an area where you can enter a comments about the file.
- Send images via email by selecting them and choosing Email from the File menu. You will be asked what is the maximum size for the images you want to send. If any of the images are larger than the size you chose, they will be resized to that size. The images will then by opened in a Mail message window ready for you to send.
- Locate the selected file or folder in the Finder using Show in Finder.
- Copy the selected image to the pasteboard using the Copy command in the Edit menu.
- Copy the complete path name of the selected file to the pasteboard using the
Copy Name command in the Edit menu.
- Select all the files and folders in the list using the Select All command.
- Select all the files and folders whose name contains specified text using the
Select Names Containing command.
